Voices of the Village Podcast

Change Starts With Conversation

Featuring Ernise Cummings

Game Changers Media Network proudly presents another impactful edition of Voices of the Village, where we believe that change starts with conversation. Today’s spotlight: Ernise Cummings nonprofit founder, federal contracting educator, and Amazon Best-Selling Author of How To Do Business With The Federal Government.

A Girl from New Orleans with a Global Perspective

When asked, “Who is Ernise Cummings?” she doesn’t begin with titles.

She begins with roots. A proud native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ernise describes herself simply as “a girl from New Orleans.” Growing up in a family of seven six girls and one brother she learned early the value of resilience, unity, and faith. Her life journey even took her overseas for a period, broadening her worldview and strengthening her commitment to service.

But above all, she identifies first as family:

  • Mother of three

  • Grandmother of fourteen

  • Great-grandmother of four

That legacy mindset drives everything she builds.

The Birth of Secret Miracles

Ernise’s heart for helping people wasn’t something she discovered later in life it was always there. Out of that passion came Secret Miracles Inc.. What started as a desire to uplift others became a structured nonprofit organization focused on serving underserved communities particularly families and students who need additional support, resources, and opportunity. Secret Miracles was born from one simple truth:

Sometimes people don’t need charity. They need access. They need guidance. They need someone to believe in them long enough for their breakthrough to happen.

Through mentorship, community support initiatives, and educational empowerment, Secret Miracles works to fill gaps that traditional systems often overlook. As Ernise shared during the interview, her path wasn’t accidental. It was intentional. Every step was aligned with her calling to help others succeed.

From Service to Strategy: Teaching Federal Contracting

While serving communities, Ernise noticed something powerful. Small businesses especially minority and women-owned businesses were missing out on federal contracting opportunities simply because they didn’t understand the system. That observation became her next mission. She authored the Amazon Best-Selling book:

How To Do Business With The Federal Government

In it, she breaks down what many perceive as complicated bureaucracy into practical, actionable steps. Her work equips entrepreneurs with the knowledge to pursue government contracts, secure certifications, and position their businesses for growth. It’s not just about contracts. It’s about economic empowerment. It’s about generational wealth. It’s about ownership.

A Legacy of Leadership

What makes Ernise Cummings special isn’t just what she does it’s how she does it.

She leads with humility. She builds with faith. She serves with intention. From New Orleans to national impact, her journey proves that purpose + preparation = power. And as we always say on Voices of the Village…

Change truly does start with conversation.
