My name is Demetrius Rucker and I am from Chicago, IL. I am from humbled beginning, my father is a pastor and retired Chicago Transit Authority worker, and my mother is a school bus driver. I enlisted in the United States Army in October 1995 as a Transportation Specialist and ending my career as Army recruiter. I retired from the United States Army after 20 plus years of honorable and faithful service in January 2021. I have a BA and MBA in Organizational Management. After retiring from the Army, I worked in logistics as a Warehouse Supervisor in charge of Inbound/Outbound operations. My interest in politics stems from the call to service I answered over 20 years ago, and my assignment as a Army recruiter. I currently serve my community as the veteran mentor coordinator for the veterans treatment court in henry county, on the board of directors for Hands of Hope a non-profit clinic, and various community service events as a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, Inc. My fiancé and I have a blended family with a total of 5 kids – 4 boys and 1 girl. Lastly, I am running for District I commissioner because I’m deeply committed to our community’s well-being. With my 20-plus years of military experience and my background in organizational management, I believe I can make a significant impact. My vision is to foster economic development, enhance quality of life, and provide unwavering support for seniors and veterans. As a leader, my motto is simple, “Small A.C.T.S, lead to major impact.”
